Nell’s Interview with Exposed Zippers

I was fortunate to meet the amazing author of Exposed Zippers, Lisa Weiss, while attending party for the blog at OAK NYC a few months ago. She had written an article about my friends Amanda & Lucia of Coup de Coeur and was delighted when she asked me to do an interview for her amazing blog. Click the image below to read my full interview, she asked amazing questions. Also please check out the whole site where she has interviews from truly inspiring people like Norma Kamali and Simon Doonan.

Friday Pinspiration: Olympic Inspired

The Olympics are one of those epic events that I find so interesting. Everyone seems to have a favorite sport they like to watch. Mine is gymnastics for the summer and figure skating for the winter. I love to watch the agility and intensity of everyone involved.

Thought I would share a Team USA inspired photo from Elle Italia editorial called “Sports Channel”. Also note the white bandana around the neck, love that bit of styling. Have a lovely weekend!

Happy Birthday Bikini!

Hello lovelies! I hope you all enjoyed your July Fourth – just got back from the beach and realized I almost missed that the bikini turns 66 today! Certainly the most sexy and arguably the most popular swimsuit style in the world, the bikini was designed by Louis Réardon on July 5, 1946. I have done a number of posts on bikini classics so I thought I would share another fave pic of Goldie Hawn in a lime green bikini circa “Laugh In” days. So fun!

Inspired: Photographer Norman Parkinson

One of the most well known and celebrated photographers of the 20th century. British native Norman Parkinson’s body of work is incredibly vast. Not surprisingly what I gravitate to most are his swim shots that are simply stunning. I continue to be inspired by his ability to capture such vibrant and striking scenes. He also does what I consider to be the hardest with photography that includes swimwear which is toeing that fine line of sexy and powerful while still staying a bit sweet as well. Many of these images you might have seen before… and didn’t know who it was, so now you do! I hope you enjoy this photo spread as much as I did putting this post together.

Friday Pinspiration: “Summer Games”

I love this picture because it reminds me of summer as a kid, running through the hose in my backyard and screaming my head off because the water was so cold. I also adore a good one piece like the one below, in fact we have some lovely new one pieces going up on the site next week!

My Sirène Summer Favorites (still in stock!!)

We have been selling out of so many styles as it’s late in the season- I know some customers have been frustrated (sorry Acacia lovers). So I thought I would do a post on some suits that I have full stock of that I am STILL in love with!! I mean I kinda love all my suits on the site but wanted to call out some I feel need to be called out for being truly amazing.

SHIMMI Edie Halter
Why I LOVE: The top on this has such a fresh and interesting cut! I used to have a suit like this when I was in high school and it was one of my favorites.I also love the signature SHIMMI braided open tie sides on the bottom, very flattering.

Mara Hoffman Lime Ibis Triangle Tie Side
Why I LOVE: Not even sure why I still have this in stock, this print from Mara Hoffman was clearly a favorite of mine for the season. And you can’t go wrong with a classic triangle tie side.

Muther of All Things Tuxe One Piece
Why I LOVE: I know I recently posted about this suit- but I am obsessed people!! This is THE suit that is just as great as a bodysuit as it is for the beach. I also love the edgy vibe that Muther of All Things brings to their swimwear.
Mara Hoffman Lime Ibis Triangle Tie Side Bikini
Noelle Sue Floral Bikini
Why I LOVE: This suit was featured in the Daily Candy Roundup for spring. And for good reason, I love Noelle’s use of vintage inspired florals juxtaposed with a sporty cut. A friend bought this suit and when I saw it on her- I truly appreciate the fun and flirty vibe.

So De Mel Esperanza Bikini
Why I LOVE: This is my suit for the girl that needs a little extra support isn’t short on style. Designer Sonia De Mello’s halter design with thicker straps, luxe hardware and her super flattering seamless fabric makes this a swimsuit that you will go back to season after season.
So De Mel Esperanza Bikini

If this STILL isn’t enough I have brand new Mara Hoffman, Zimmerman and MIKOH– swimwear AND coverups going up on the site in the next few weeks. So stay tuned.

Friday Pinspiration: Blue Lagoon

Sirene's Friday Pinspiration: Blue Lagoon

I have seen and pinned all of these pics from this Australian Vogue editorial over the last 6 month and I am STILL obsessed. This image above is my favorite because of those adorable pink applique bottoms!! Credit says “the Vintage Clothing Shop”, must be some mod 60s vintage bottoms. They sure aren’t functional but seriously the cutest bikini bottoms I have seen in a long time. Sure to be “pinspirational” for season’s to come! Ok, I clearly need a summer Friday office break…
Have a great weekend!

Friday Pinspiration: Sandy

Hello All!!

Literally walking out the door to go upstate to my friends cabin, where I go every year for Memorial Day. Today’s pinsipiration I pinned yesterday and I knew I had to make it my post. This pic reminds me of playing in the sand as a kid, making sand castles and sand mermaid tales that covered my legs.  I found this pin from Kylie Williams, originally posted my Tala at Bathing News.
