One of the top questions I get from customers is about bum coverage.
There seem to be two camps those that prefer to keep it under wraps and those that like to keep it cheeky. A lot of women feel that no matter what size you are, a barely there bikini bottom is the most flattering. And this certainly can be true, I find less coverage can be just as flattering if not more flattering to the bum. Sometimes if you go for a ton of coverage it can square out a boyish figure or give the bottoms half the dreaded frumpy look.
The other group of ladies want full of coverage while still looking fresh and young. More coverage means that they will feel comfortable at the beach without all their lady parts on display. This also includes high waisted bikini bottoms which I get a ton of inquiries about. I like a high waisted bottom that isn’t too much coverage like the Rosa Cha, it really balances proportions well.
There is some in between though. What I would love to see more is the super flattering low slung bikini- but the bum be more full coverage. The Lisa Marie Fernandez Bottoms do that really well for me, I sometimes wear her black bottom from the Lisa Marie with other tops because it’s so flattering. I also love the comeback of the boyshort, it’s got more coverage on the sides but can still flash a little cheek and not feel like a thong like with the SoDeMel Zoe.
Also let it be said that I am all for wearing the right bikini in the right setting. For example I wore my cheeky Salt Swimwear bottoms in the Hamptons and you would think I was naked, but in Colombia it seemed silly to put on anything more.
I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. When it comes to wearing a swimsuit on the beach wear what makes you comfortable. Whether your preference is the barely there MIKOH Lanai or to be swathed in the soft grey fabric of the SoDeMel Dolce Vita!i couldn’t find the creator of this great image but I found it here online.
